The One Lamb Movie Project

Filmmakers Credit God as Their Co-Producer

The One Lamb, a faith inspired film shot on a shoestring budget will make incredible theatrical run beginning March 30th, 2009.

Charlotte, NC March 2, 2009: A church in Charlotte, North Carolina, very far removed from the scene in Hollywood, has produced a full length feature film that will open in theaters across the US March 30th, 2009. The One Lamb, a story of a man who discovers hope and redemption in the midst of a life threatening battle with cancer, was made for only $50,000, a shoestring budget even for an independent film. Despite the humble nature of the project, this church made movie will make an astonishingly wide spread release opening in theaters in 34 states across the US. And the filmmakers aren’t afraid to tell you why they believe it has achieved such wide spread distribution.

“We’ve prayed constantly for three years that God would bless this movie. Many independent films are sitting on a shelf and will never get seen. We know all of our success is because of God’s blessing” says writer and director of The One Lamb, Bryan Forrest.

Young Revolutionaries Who Rock

Posted by robbyshobbies on March 20, 2009

yrcoverfrontDallas Jessup (17) knows how to change the world. She grew a community service project into the non-profit Just Yell Fire which has become a Million Girl Revolution across 42 countries. As a 13 year old black belt martial artist, Dallas learned the frightening statistics that 1 in 4 girls will be sexually assaulted and that there are 114,000 attempted abductions each year in the United States alone. She set out to create a home movie to teach her schoolmates at Portland’s St. Mary’s Academy High School some street fighting techniques to defend themselves. The word spread that a young girl was putting together an important film and in sixty days Dallas had a volunteer professional crew of 30, 100 volunteer extras, celebrity cameos by Josh Holloway and Evangeline Lilly, and $600,000 in donated resources. Thus came about the 46 minute film, Just Yell Fire. It teaches girls how to literally fight back against predators and sexual assault. Dallas put the film online for free download and raised the money to produce and ship free DVDs to girls without Internet access. The results? One million downloads in two years and multiple awards for the film including American Library Association Most Notable Video designation and Dallas was a Teen Choice Award nominee for her work. Her non-profit now lobbies for mandatory teen-safety programs in schools, trains teachers & coaches in Just Yell Fire techniques, presents seminars at schools, camps, crisis shelters and elsewhere. Just Yell Fire continues to offer the Just Yell Fire film for free download or free DVD for any girl, worldwide. Not content to rest on her accomplishments, Dallas Jessup travels an average of 10,000 miles a month speaking at high schools, colleges, law enforcement conferences, women’s events, and crisis shelters across the U.S… She spent 2 weeks in rural India speaking at a dozen colleges on how to avoid slave traders for the sex trafficking industry. In addition to her duties as founder & spokesperson for Just Yell Fire, Dallas delivers keynote presentations calling for teen activism; her story provides the inspiration, her how-to strategies gives young people their own road map for changing the world.

Dallas Jessup – I wrote Young Revolutionaries Who Rock because, as I travel about 100,000 miles a year with my Just Yell Fire project www.justyellfire.com, I meet kids everywhere who tell me they want to improve the world and they ask me how. The book is a how-to manual for them.

My motivation was based on the dozens of high-impact teens I’ve met who have grown their own community service projects into national and international organizations. While my Just Yell Fire www.justyellfire.comproject has gotten amazing attention and help from national media, celebrities like Evangeline Lilly, and sponsors like Google, some of these other projects just aren’t getting the attention they need and deserve.

These kids are taking on Big Tobacco, fighting injustice, searching for cures and other important causes. I wanted to highlight their stories while sharing their tips for other kids who are ready to start their own revolution.

My Night in a Box

You’re stopped at the last traffic light between your office and home.  You’re tired and ready to relax and have a nice, quiet dinner at home.  And then you see him.  In the median.  A worn-looking man in a reflective vest with defeat on his face, desperation in his eyes, and a wrenching plea scrawled on a piece of dirty cardboard.  The same questions go through your mind that run through it every time you are caught at this light:  How did he get here?  Should I give him money?  Will he just spend it on drugs or alcohol?  I can’t just help everyone, can I?  Is someone else helping him?  What should I do?

In Durham County alone, there are 25,000 people living in poverty—14% of our population.  Not all 25,000 of them are living in make-shift homes in the woods or begging for money on street corners, but many are and the rest could be on their way there.  In stark contrast, Durham is also a thriving city with the highest median income in North Carolina .  We are graced with prestigious universities, and boast of the highest concentration of PhD’s in the world.  We have what we need to win the fight against homelessness in our own back yard.

What should you do, you asked?  It’s simple.  Join the battle.

The Durham Rescue Mission is partnering with the Church of the Good Shepherd, Durham Cares, and other community organizations that are fighting homelessness.  Our first objective is to help local college students from Duke, NCCU, and UNC understand the reality of homelessness.  The result will be the start of a culture of service between area college campuses and the greater Durham Community.

On Friday night, April 3rd, on the Durham Rescue Mission’s campus at 1205 E. Main Street and 507 E. Knox Street , we’ll host “my night in a box.”  Student volunteers will experience just a few of the many aspects of homelessness . . . for just one night.  In a safe, secure environment, they will scavenge for necessities and brave the elements.  No doubt, they will wake up tired and uncomfortable on April 4th, but with a memory that will last a lifetime. They’ll be our front line, our catalyst, to lead the outreach effort between the community and our homeless population.  The students will raise funds from friends and family as they raise awareness of homelessness in Durham .

So what can you do?

Make a commitment to join the fight.

Tell others.

Speak out.

Stop by the night of April 3rd and see for yourself the courage and commitment of these students.

If you can, bring a clean, new or “gently used” blanket.  A blanket is a basic need of a homeless person.  It is warmth in the cold.  Protection from the hard ground.  And a reminder that someone cares.  It’s not much to you, buts it will mean a lot to a man, woman, or child without a warm home and a soft bed.  We’ll make sure your simple gift gets into the hands of someone who needs it.

This Saturday on Robby’s Hobbies the Durham Rescue Mission is going to be on to share with one about the ministry My Night in a Box.

Germ Killing Machine

Posted by robbyshobbies on March 13, 2009

Carpet Floor=
200,000 bacteria per square inch!

Diane from Oreck  In Winston Salem On Hanes Mall Blvd. is going to be on Robby’s Hobbies This Sat. March 14th call in and learn all about this new vacuum.

The New Oreck Halo

The world’s only UV-C
germ-killing upright vacuum.

The New Oreck Halo uses UV-C light to kill many of the germs that could be on your floors, while you vacuum. So that you and your family can enjoy a healthier clean.

Carpets and floors can be the most germ-ridden surface in your home.

Every time we enter our homes, we can track in germs and bacteria from outside. Think about coming home from work, or the kids as they enter the house, dirty from playing outside. Where have their shoes been? Public bathrooms? What have they stepped in? What about the dog digging in the dirt or trash? It’s easy for germs to get on your floors. Dust mite eggs, flea eggs, mold, bacteria, germs, and other microorganisms could be living there, too. But the new Oreck Halo with germ-killing UV-C light can help rid many of them from your floors – easily.1

With the New Oreck Halo, you are vacuuming and killing many of the germs on your carpets and floors at the same time. No extra effort. No extra time. Just vacuum like you normally would!

Redefining the meaning of clean.

Conventional vacuums likely can’t do the whole job. Even after being cleaned with a conventional vacuum, carpets and floors can still be covered with germs and dust mite eggs. That’s why you need the Oreck Halo to quickly kill many of the germs, dust mite eggs, flea eggs and mold that could be on your floors. And you’ll have piece of mind knowing the Oreck Halo does it all without chemicals – making it safe for you, your family and the environment.

Your floors are germier than you think.

Laboratory tests show that carpet can be the most germ-ridden surface in your home – significantly worse than the toilet seat. These petri dishes show bacteria samples collected from a typical home.

  •  Toilet Seat
    49 bacteria per square inch
  •  Bathroom Floor
    18,025 bacteria per square inch
  •  Carpet Floor
    200,000 bacteria per square inch!

Its passenger is its engine.

The bicycle is a curious vehicle. Its passenger is its engine.

Van from Paceline Bicycles is bringing on two of his cycling buddies, Hough and Donna Wallis. Hough is an oncologist and his wife Donna ia a homemaker and teaches Religion at various institutions. Both are avid cyclist and do all sorts of rides. Some of which are sponsored by religious groups. Listen in This Saturday March, 14th on Robby’s Hobbies To hear more.

“But to say that the race is the metaphor for the life is to miss the point. The race is everything. It obliterates whatever isn’t racing. Life is the metaphor for the race.”
Donald Antrim

“To be a cyclist is to be a student of pain….at cycling’s core lies pain, hard and bitter as the pit inside a juicy peach. It doesn’t matter if you’re sprinting for an Olympic medal, a town sign, a trailhead, or the rest stop with the homemade brownies. If you never confront pain, you’re missing the essence of the sport. Without pain, there’s no adversity. Without adversity, no challenge. Without challenge, no improvement. No improvement, no sense of accomplishment and no deep-down joy. Might as well be playing Tiddly-Winks.”
Scott Martin

“What makes a great endurance athlete is the ability to absorb potenial embarrassment, and to suffer without complaint. I was discovering that if it was a matter of gritting my teeth, not caring how it looked, and outlasting everybody else, I won. It didn’t seem to matter what sport it was–in a straight-ahead, long-distant race, I could beat anybody. If it was a suffer-fest, I was good at it.”
- Lance Armstrong, My Journey back to Life
