Every Soldier Need A Bible

Military BibleStick Outreach

Across the USA, radio stations and listeners like you are standing strong with our military, showing support and spreading God’s Word to those in harm’s way.

Through Faith Comes By Hearing’s Military BibleStick project, our nation’s troops are hearing the Word of God while on (or preparing for) deployment.

The Military BibleStick is a digital audio player that is pre-loaded with a dramatized recording of the entire New Testament.

Chaplains from every branch of the military are flooding Faith Comes By Hearing with requests. Nearly 40,000 of these Audio Bibles are now in the field. Over 325 chaplains use Military BibleSticks in pre-deployment briefings, counseling sessions, Bible studies, weekly chapels and other spiritual services.

About 3.5 inches long and less than an inch thick, these pocket-sized Audio Bibles are field-friendly with a low-key design which reduces visibility for use in low-light situations.

Here’s what they are saying about the Military BibleStick:

“The BibleStick has been a great tool,” said a National Guardsman who recently came home. “During our Iraq deployment, we had six troops come to Christ and another 15 baptized. I was able to supply them all with the BibleStick.”

An Army chaplain serving “Airborne” troops wrote, “I use the BibleStick when doing PT (physical training). What a blessing it is! I want to share this with my soldiers so that they may do the same.”

An Army chaplain who recently returned from Afghanistan said, “One soldier stated that he couldn’t get a particular story out of his head [and] found himself thinking about it all day.”

“Thank you very much,” said one chaplain in Iraq. “I have received some of these while we have been here, and they flew off the shelves. Many people listen to Scripture while they are at work to keep their minds off the ‘groundhog’s day-ness’ of the mission. I just put in another request for 100.”

Charity Navigator 4-Star AwardJoin the effort to reach our troops. Give the gift of God’s Word to a military man or military woman for only $25. This includes a Military BibleStick, an MP3 disc of the entire New Testament along with response card for service members to have New Testaments and KIDZ Bibles sent to their families.

SECU Family House

Posted by robbyshobbies on November 4, 2011

Mission/Overview

http://www.familyhousews.org

The SECU Family House on the Richard J. Reynolds, III & Marie M. Reynolds Campus provides affordable lodging in a caring environment for referred adult patients and/or their caregivers who travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., for medical treatment.

Winston-Salem is a medical community with two nationally ranked medical centers and limited affordable lodging for adult patients and their families.

Caregivers often must camp out in hospital waiting rooms, hallways, and in their cars. Hospital personnel observe that many very sick patients are more concerned about their family’s living situation than about their own recovery.

Approximately 400 families of inpatients from both hospitals require lodging each night.  In addition, dozens of outpatients with serious conditions and their caregivers need accommodations.

SECU Family House will help alleviate this huge need for affordable, comfortable lodging.

Staff and volunteers will be on site at all times to assist the more than 2,000 families a year who will stay at the House, as well as the outpatients who will come for day respite in between treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy.

Referrals to SECU Family House will be made by Forsyth Medical Center, Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and by Hospice & Palliative CareCenter.

Blogging For Jesus

Posted by robbyshobbies on November 4, 2011

Sara Bush

Growing up in the South along side three older brothers, my mom always wished I’d wear dresses and ribbons in my hair, but I insisted on wearing blue jeans and playing basketball.  I was adamant.  For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to teach.  It started with a few stuffed animals arranged around my room as a little girl, and later “taught school” with some childhood friends. Directly out of college, I ventured into the elementary classroom. God has now moved me into an expanding territory – to speak and write for adults. It’s amazing to think where following God will take you – on an adventure that’s for certain!

I made a commitment to the Lord as a teenager, yet struggled with how to pray. I asked God to give me the desire to pray; to rise early and spend time with Him each day. I see now that God responded by providing me with a real passion for prayer that has lead me to develop a twenty-five year habit of journaling. It is how God teaches me and reveals His work in my life.

After graduating from Appalachian State University with a K-6 degree, I continued to teach elementary education and served as the Secretary-Treasurer of Youth Ministry, Inc., a small, non-profit foundation established for seminary students. I am also a member of both the high school and middle school Moms in Touch International prayer meetings, along with a passion to teach at M.O.M.S – Mothers of Many Seasons, a women’s ministry group. I am currently a speaker for Stonecroft Ministries, Christian Women’s Clubs and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC). My husband, Eric and I, with our three children live in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where we are actively involved at River Oaks Community Church. I enjoy scrapbooking, knitting. reading in the sun, biking and boating with my family,

I have used various journals and prayer guides over the years, but was never able to locate one that worked in harmony. After fifteen years of the Lord burning this desire on my heart, I decided to simply “just do it.” God has lead me to create an inspirational book, The Invitation – Come Boldly to the Throne of Grace, on the benefits of prayer and journaling, sharing personal experiences along with a structured companion prayer guide and journal for daily use.

I passionately desire to deliver a practical prayer tool into the hands of God’s people to help them commune with God. I lovingly attempt to inspire my readers with God’s promise of His presence. My hope is that your devotion will increase as you come to an eternal perspective of prayer while encountering the living God.  Remember His faithfulness as you record your life journey and see His answers revealed. I enjoy teaching and facilitating others in the disciplines of prayer and journaling including a variety of related topics: listening, overcoming unbelief, spiritual confidence and more. I hope to continue my mission with the release of my first companion set, The Invitation and Grace for the Journey.
