A Dog For Kate

Posted by robbyshobbies on February 23, 2012

Help us raise money to give Kate a life-saving companion!

To all appearances Kate looks like any other 6-year-old with her blonde hair and bright gap-toothed smile and her penchant for dressing up like a princess. But unlike most 6-year-olds, Kate suffers from Type I Diabetes with life-threatening sugar highs that make her hyperactive and emotional and sugar lows that could send her spiraling into a diabetic coma…. A specially trained service dog could save her life.

Diabetic Alert Dogs are highly trained purebreds able to detect the beginning of a sugar high or low long before their companions actually exhibit symptoms. Because of the intense training these service dogs go through and continue to go through after they leave the breeder, they are very expensive.

We’ve already raised $9,184 of the $19,000 cost of the dog. Please help Kate by donating a few dollars and spreading the word.

Any additional money raised will be donated to the purchase of a dog for another child with diabetes.

Josh’s Battle

Posted by robbyshobbies on February 17, 2012

Josh Rominger is a junior at Davie High School in Mocksville, North Carolina.  Josh had a cough for a couple of months that he couldn’t shake.  So about a week before Christmas 2011, the doctor decided to do a chest X-Ray and sent it off to be reviewed.  Josh was then informed he had a very large synovial sarcoma tumor on his right lung.

The plan was to remove the right lung then on to chemotherapy if needed.  Josh showed a tremendous amount of faith and courage.  He said “Everything’s going to be fine!  I’ve got God!”

Josh under went 16 hours of surgery on December 27th to remove the lung.  This left 2% of the tumor behind his heart, which meant chemo after recovery.

Josh endured a series of “speed bumbs.”  One major one being severe swelling after the surgery which resulted in his left leg having to be amputated above the knee.

YMCA Salute to Josh... Including Stu in the white shirt

Josh is still in ICU and his family has been by his side the whole time!  The wonderful people of Davie County have rallied their troops and already there are numerous fundraiser events in order.

http://joshsjourney.blog.com/2012/01/12/joshs-journey/This site was also created to raise donations for the Rominger family.  Please visit the PayPal link and submit any donation amount that you can.  EVERY DOLLAR will make a difference in “Josh’s Journey!”

This Paypal link is linked to Mock’s United Methodist Church’s account they set up for Josh at the Bank of Carolina’s Advance branch.

Also, please visit Josh’s Caring Bridge website for updates on his progress. http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/joshrominger

Listen to their cusomers

great place

I’ve been here several times, mostly for soap and shampoo but also for tea, food, mouth wash, cough drops..yeah, they have pretty much everything there. And it gets better. The staff knows more than I know about natural health remedies and what’s truly good and bad for your body. That’s especially impressive for me because it shows there are people for the same cause that I support. And I didn’t feel like a weirdo talking about those types of things with the people who work there. Also, everything is reasonably priced and there is always something awesome on sale

Knowledgeable, experienced consulting when you walk in the door. Great prices

Ok…this was my first visit to get Stonefree for kidney stones. They had the bottle out waiting on me. I was immediately greeted and then engaged in a very information conversation about the natural ingredients and why they were part of this formula. After a bit of time, we switched subjects and I ended up getting the last bottle of the Acai berry juice. The most powerful antioxidant around plus has many more benefits. Then once I returned home, found out that it was much less than what most internet sites are charging. Then to top it off, I ended up getting 20% off of my order. WOW! What a great first impression. I’ll certainly be back and will tell my friends about it.

Excellent Customer Service and 100% All Natural Products

I have purchasing products from A&S for several years now. Before I started buying thier products, I was having major health problems with hypertension, skin and hair. Medications and doctor visits were driving me to the poor house. As an african amercian women, I found it especially hard to find prodcuts that work for me. I have been 300% pleased with every product I have ever purchased from A&S. Many of my friends and family have started shopping there as a result of the change they see in me. The prices are reasonable and the staff are natural herbalist and not just some individual needing a job. Staff They have you find products in quickly at a price range that will meet any budget. Unlike GNC and other vitamin stores, A&S products are 100% natural. This includes some grocery items, pet food, natural candies, relaxers and other hair product and yes, even Aubrey Organic make-up. A must stop for anyone concerned about their health and would like to reduce their doctor visits to an annual event.

  • Cons: None

Bethesda Center for the Homeless

Posted by robbyshobbies on February 3, 2012

Bethesda Center for the Homeless was begun in 1987 as a partnership between First Presbyterian Church, Winston-Salem and the Forsyth/Stokes Mental Health Center.  From that beginning, Bethesda has emerged as a leader in caring for the community’s most desperate homeless individuals, becoming the largest provider of emergency night shelter as well as continuing to be the area’s only day shelter.

The 100-bed night shelter serves a cross-section of homeless men and women:  Those who have short-term emergencies and need a bed for just a few nights; those who are newly employed and need time to get on their feet; those who have been out of work for months or even years with little hope of things turning around; the heavily addicted; the disabled; and the mentally ill.   Through Bethesda’s case management team, everyone has an opportunity for mental and physical health care, job training, education and even their own housing.

The day shelter is open to any homeless person and offers a place of warmth and hospitality.  There are restrooms, a free telephone, showers, a laundry room, access to other resources and a mailing address.  Twelve-step meetings and health screenings and programming are held regularly.  Hundreds of homeless men and women use the day shelter each year.

He has shown you, O man, What is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.    Micah 6:8

History and Mission

Latezes Bridges conceived Success & Beyond Global Enterprises with the vision of positively influencing future generations by empowering today’s youth to transcend barriers and develop as holistically healthy and productive adults equipped for a global economy.

Latezes Bridges grew up in Henderson, NC and has always had a passion for children and community development.  Although she began her career in 2000 working with special needs youth and families in the Raleigh/Durham area, she longed to return to her home and invest her skills and services there. Ms. Bridges’ parents taught the importance of entrepreneurship and modeled a strong spirit of servitude to others daily.
Coupling those two concepts, she began to plan the development of the company in fall of 07. Combining faith, passion, ambition, and experience Success & Beyond Global enterprises became a dream realized on March 1, 2009.
